This fantastic Philadelphia Toboggan Company Carousel and its Bruder band organ was the show piece of the Buckroe Beach Amusement Park in Hampton, Virginia. The park was pened in 1897 and demolished in 1987. Luckily, the Carousel was saved. It was restored, although without the original color scheme, and preserved as an attraction in downtown Hampton. I remember riding the carousel countless times as a child, as the Amusement Park was the place where a lot of us in Hampton went for some escape from the turmoil of the 60’s and early 70’s. Great bands on the “Hampton Strip.”
