While on a rag-tag journey through the mountains of Virginia, I came upon this great General Store. The main thing I remembered about the trip was that my tape player went out and the only signal I could pick up was a static-ridden country radio station. Before the trip, I wasn’t much of a country music fan. The week after I got back from the photo trip, The Country Music Awards were on. I knew every song they played! Ah, the power of the air waves! By the way, I’ve been a Country Music fan ever since.
The Fuller brothers have operated this place since their grandfather opened it. The brother I spoke to, John Fuller, couldn’t remember when the “Remington” sign went up. The chairs around the pot-bellied stove serve as the town’s “Town Hall, social club, and ’bout most everything else….” This place was a real slice in time. To quote John again, “Nothing much changes around here.”
