The bar in the photograph is a portion of the historic Oatman Hotel in Oatman, Arizona. This hotel is one of the last two-story Adobe buildings still surviving in the United States. It was also a well-known Hollywood hide-a-way during the glory days of the Hollywood era. The town was the first place you hit when driving out of LA on Rt. 66 across the Mohave Desert . Many Hollywood stars would venture to Oatman for weekends away from all the glitz and glitter.
The money you see tacked to the ceilings and walls is a long-standing tradition of the bar where visitors sign their names to the money they staple to the walls. There is a Plexiglas panel above the back window that covers a bill that Carole Lombard and Clark Gable signed and
posted when they spent their first night of their honeymoon there (or so the story goes).
