I came upon the Triangle Diner in Winchester, VA on a road trip back from my brother’s place in West Virginia. I had mother with me and it turned out to be a great place for a late dinner on the way back to Norfolk. As I did not have my camera with me at the time, I drove back up to Winchester to photograph this old chrome diner. It sits at a fork in the road, hence the name “The Triangle Diner.” The wonderful lady in the photo is a waitress that has worked in the diner for decades. The pose she is showing is not staged. That is a natural pose for her. When I asked her if she stood like that out of habit, she said, “What do you mean, I stand like this all the time.” As a note, the Triangle Diner had some of the best Coconut Custard pie I have ever tasted! Good coffee too.
Since the time of the original photo, the diner has moved to a new location in Winchester due to road construction and was under renovation the last time I was through the town.
